Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the high volume of people looking to adopt from us, we have made some temporary changes to our hours and operation procedures. Please read the following:

* We will now be closed on Mondays, but will remain open the other days of the week. Tuesday-Friday: 12:30-4 & Saturday and Sunday: 1-5.

* To visit our facility you must first have an APPROVED application and be actively looking to adopt.

* We only require appointments to visit our facility if you are looking to adopt a puppy. If you are interested in a cat, kitten, or adult dog, no appointment is required, just an approved application.

* We can only allow 3 families in at a time, and each approved applicant can only bring TWO other people into the facility with them. However, we will let family members and/or friends of approved applicants take turns coming in, as long as it's only 3 people per group at a time.

* Anyone coming into the facility MUST wear a mask.

We ask for patience during this time. Our mission is to save as many animals as we can, while trying to find the best homes for them. We are a small facility working on a skeleton crew doing the best we can for the animals in our care. We strive to make the experience of adopting enjoyable and rewarding, and we would not be where we are without the people who support us. Thank you!

Hope for Life Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit Animal Shelter located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We are a cage-free, no-kill shelter founded in 2002. In 2015 we were named #1 non-profit in Coastal Virginia “Giving Back Awards”.

Hope for Life Rescue serves as a model of care for special-needs animals, abandoned, neglected and abused street animals. We give them medical treatment, shelter, and the love and care they deserve while working towards finding the right forever home. Veterinarian care alone is over $350,000 annually. We have a 95% - 98% Save Rate!

What People Say

I have visited this shelter several times and even adopted my dog from here. The process was very easy and they allowed for a home visit before we made our final decision. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming! They have tons of knowledge on the pets and are able to relay that information to other people who who are meeting with the pets.

Hope City Rescue

In 2018 Hope for Life Rescue saved over 700 animals.

This was accomplished from a small facility.  Hope for Life Rescue has outgrown its small facility and we are raising funds to build “Hope City Rescue”, a one of a kind Sanctuary. This much needed Sanctuary will hopefully be located at the Birdneck Rd corridor in Virginia Beach.

Donate here to the building fund.
